CALL FOR GUEST EDITOR – SOCIAL ALTERNATIVES JOURNAL
The independent journal Social Alternatives is looking for a guest editor for
Issue 3, 2010. Social Alternatives publishes 4 issues annually and the theme
for Issue 3 is ‘Population and Health in the 21st Century’. Issue 3 will be
released September 2010. Sub-themes could include global epidemics, global
warming, health care systems, equity and access to health care and more.
Potential guest editors are asked to submit one page proposals which outline
how the topic will be covered. The proposal should identify and provide
details of 8 to 10 potential contributors, including listing topics within the
theme that each contributor will cover. Guest editors are asked to outline
also how their proposal meets the goals of social justice and fosters dialogue
that stimulates consideration of alternatives to problems of population and
health in the 21st Century. Proposals will be considered by all members of the
editorial collective.
Responsibilities: The guest editor solicits 8 to 10 articles, 3000 words in
length. Articles are intended for an informed lay audience. Guest editors are
responsible for contacting contributors, receiving articles in the specified
deadline, and coordinating the refereeing process with the assistance of the
editorial collective. The guest editor liaises with authors to respond to referee
comments and ensures articles are edited to publication ready standards for
the desktop publisher within the timelines provided.
Each quarterly issue of Social Alternatives is edited around a collectively
agreed theme dealing with a pressing topic, an important area of public debate
or matters of political, environmental, social and economic concern.
If you are interested in editing an issue for 2010 on a different theme please
also submit a proposal for consideration by the collective.
