Future Resilient Transfer Transport Network - FUTURENET
This is an opportunity to join a major EPSRC-funded project linking the Universities of Nottingham, Birmingham and Loughborough to explore the implications of climate change for transport networks. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Robert Dingwall to carry out a review of foresight exercises in non-transport sectors to assess their implications for patterns of transport demand, the degree to which these are likely to be affected by climate change, and the extent to which these expectations have been reflected in recent transport foresight thinking. On this basis, they will develop a range of scenarios for discussion in stakeholder workshops and produce a report to inform investigations of the engineering challenges facing transport systems, by other members of the team. They will also organise workshops on social network analysis to explore how this technique might be used to extend conventional choice models of transport demand and work particularly with colleagues from Loughborough to develop survey instruments to apply this approach.
Applications are invited from social scientists. Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in science and technology studies, or a closely related field relevant to transport, and be willing to travel between the three universities and their industrial partners as required.
Salary will be £27,183 per annum. This post is available immediately and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of two years.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Mrs G Farmer, tel: 0115 846 6135 or Email: [log in to unmask] Please note that applications sent direct to this Email address will not be accepted.
