Hi all
Well, I just tried the pic zoom function and though I too had to install
Silverlight, I am finding the zoomy bits working really nicely. One wonders
if users behind educational or local authority firewalls will be able to
install Silverlight? It's MS, of course, so there should be a degree of
trust and consistency with it. [...waits for waterfall of comment about that
last remark...]
The project homepage looks really restrained with a nice look and feel; I
liked the colourways chosen and also the use of pattern and the desktop
colour chosen for the non-active area around the page. This part of the
screen is often ignored, and it's good to see this used as part of the
overall picture.
One slight criticism of the homepage, for me, is that there's quite a lot of
key 'first glance' info lurking below the fold of the screen. Look again at
the tab, block and spacer dimensions around the pics and nav and you'll see
quite a lot of space taken up that could be trimmed, bringing the hidden
info back above the lower screen margin.
But that's a slight issue - the whole project works really well - plaudits
to Linda and the BMAG team, and the [Birmingham-based]developers TAK! Design
& Art Direction.

website
Hi All
I just tried the preraphaelites.org website with an Asus Eee 900 with
eeebuntu 3.0 (a tweak of Ubuntu Linux 9.04) using Firefox 3.0.11.
It works just the same as Firefox on Windows XP SP3 and Firefox 3.0
until one tries to use the zooming viewer.
The viewer page does not work , but instead presents a "Get Microsoft
Silverlight" button, which upon being selected, sends one to the
Microsoft Silverlight website.
This then gives a "Microsoft Silverlight may not be supported on your
computer's hardware or operating system" message, which is nice.
Thus I would give the site full marks for presenting what is a
marvellous collection, but take a bit off for not using a cross platform
technology for the zooming viewer.
