(Apologies for cross-posting)
Hello,
I am very interested to learn how other institutions promote new stock to teaching staff. For the past few years we have created a document which is produced every half term. In it, all the book and DVD stock acquired during the previous half term are listed and divided into subject areas, e.g. art and design, engineering, health and social care, fiction, social issues and religion etc. This is then emailed to all College staff.
With our growing acquisitions this document can run to 70 pages. It is too big to expect teaching staff to browse through, especially when not all of it is relevant to them, and be compiled by LRC staff in one go. We have discussed choosing subjects at different times of the year and emailing only those staff teaching the subject but I am curious as to what other institutions do. How do you advertise new acquisitions? How often do you do it? What problems have you encountered?
I will summarise replies for the list.
Many thanks,
Rachel Preece
