The EQUATOR Network (www.equator-network.org) is an international
initiative that aims to facilitate high standards of reporting in health research
publications. The EQUATOR website pulls together all available guidelines for
reporting various types of health research studies, guidance on scientific
writing, examples of good reporting practice and many other useful resources.
The website is freely accessible and journal editors and research institutions
are encouraged to alert their researchers and research students - authors and
peer reviewers to the available resources and link to the EQUATOR website.
The internet-based “Library for Health Research Reporting” has been recently
upgraded and contains the following resources:
• Reporting guidelines
• Reporting guidelines under development
• Guidance on scientific writing
• Guidance developed by editorial groups
• Medical writers - additional resources
• Research ethics, publication ethics and good practice guidelines
• Resources related to development and maintenance of reporting
guidelines
• Examples of editorials introducing reporting guidelines
• Examples of good research reporting
• Examples of guidelines for peer reviewers
• Useful and interesting presentations
• EQUATOR 'pick' - comments, discussion and other thought provoking
articles and interesting quotes
The EQUATOR team also pulled some of these resources together to make
them more relevant and easier to use for our main user groups (see pages
dedicated to authors, editors and developers of reporting guidelines).
If you are considering writing an editorial or commentary about EQUATOR you
might find publications on this page useful: http://www.equator-
network.org/about-equator/equator-publications0/
There are already nearly 200 journals and organisations that link to the
EQUATOR website
We are also interested to find partners and organisations willing to support our
initiative. The EQUATOR resources are freely available to everyone to ensure
their wide use but we need to secure enough financial support for the further
development and maintenance. We hope to attract research funders worldwide
to join the UK and Canadian funders to provide support for this valuable
service.
Please share this information around your institutions.
With kind regards,
Iveta Simera
