The technical term for the procedure is Dolly-Zoom, but I don't know
if there's a term for the effect, other than "Vertigo" !
The shot was done using a model staircase arranged horizontally, as
the three-strip Technicolor camera was far too heavy to suspend
vertically in a real stair-well,
