Statistician / Quantitative Analyst
Clinical Effectiveness Unit
The Royal College of Surgeons of England
The regulation of medical doctors practicing in the UK is currently
changing. In the future, doctors will need to demonstrate that they
continue to meet certain standards relevant to their area of practice.
This process is called revalidation. Health outcomes of their patients
will form an important part of the evidence that doctors are required to
submit.
The Clinical Effectiveness Unit of The Royal College of Surgeons of
England and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine is starting a
project investigating the value of Hospital Episode Statistics for
evaluating outcomes of individual doctors and clinical teams. The aim of
the project is to derive procedure-specific and disease-specific
measures.
We are seeking an experienced quantitative researcher who can
coordinate this project and carry out a number of case studies in the
areas of ischaemic heart disease, urological malignancy and peripheral
vascular disease.
Applicants must have a higher research degree (MSc or PhD) in
statistics or related quantitative discipline. They will be responsible
for the statistical analyses using multivariable regression, survival
analysis, and multilevel modelling.
The post is offered full-time for 2 years. The salary will vary from
£35,194 to £43,703 per year depending on qualifications and
experience.
