It's rare that statisticians get a positive mention. The BBC radio 4
programme today interviewed Hans Rosling, introduced as a Swedish
statistician, though he talks more like an economist. The BBC website
features a mini-lecture by Rosling that makes an interesting
social/historical point through some "beautiful" graphics. You may be
interested to view this and link to Rosling's own site.
The quotes indicate I would have a more in-depth critique of his graphs
as objective statistics, but I admire the presentation.
