Research Methods Fellowships in Medical Statistics and/or Health Economics
(vacancy ref. 14780)
Dept. Community Based Medicine, University of Bristol
___________________________________________
These NIHR Research Methods Fellowships offer highly talented individuals
an opportunity to contribute to methodological and empirical research
within two exciting new initiatives. Two posts are available, one within
the MRC-funded ConDuCT (Collaboration and Innovation in Difficult or
complex Randomised Controlled Trials) Hub for Trials Methodology Research,
and the second within the Bristol Randomised Trials Collaboration (BRTC).
Both Fellows will be physically located within the Department of Community
Based Medicine. However, both ConDuCT and BRTC are joint ventures between
the Departments of Community Based Medicine and Social Medicine, and there
will be opportunities for the Fellows to interact and work with academics
from both departments.
These posts may particularly suit candidates early in a postgraduate
career, returning to work after a career break, or looking to change career
focus whilst utilising undergraduate/previous training. You will hold a
first degree either in a quantitative discipline, such as statistics,
mathematics, economics or health economics, or else a science degree with a
demonstrably strong statistical component. It is expected that Fellows will
complete an appropriate Masters degree during the Fellowship (fees paid).
Individuals who already hold a Masters degree are also eligible to apply,
but will need to demonstrate in their application why they are worthy of
support through this scheme (for example by changing field).
If successful, you may be appointed either on a fixed term or a permanent
contract depending on the extent of your previous relevant research
experience. Further information can be found at
http://www.bristol.ac.uk/personnel/ftc/
Interviews will be held on 9th and 14th July 2009.
