Treloar College in partnership with Cilip Diversity group presents a study day:
Learner-centred provision for students with disabilities: Treloar's
multidisciplinary model.
When: Wednesday 24 June 2009, 0915am – 1530pm.

Treloar College is a residential specialist college for young people with
disabilities. It succeeds through a multidisciplinary team approach to keep
learners with disabilities at the centre of quality delivery. The College Learning
Resource Centre planning includes input from occupational or speech &
language therapists, visual impairment advisor, rehabilitation engineers, and
I.T. specialists.
This study day will be of interest to LRC staff, special needs support staff and
IT staff in FE, HE and other settings seeking to improve the quality of services
for disabled learners.
The programme includes presentations from Treloar specialists in rehabilitation
engineering, electronic assistive technology, occupational therapy, speech &
language therapy , visual impairment, literacy, and computer services.
Delegates will hear how learners progress beyond Treloars with evidence from
Connexions and careers staff, alumni records and the Moving On project .
Guest speakers include:
· Alistair McNaught, TechDis: inclusive mobile learning and
AccessApps – assistive technology for free and in your pocket.
· E.A.Draffen, University of Southampton: the LexDis project, support
available for disabled students, use of Web 2.0 social networking tools
