Registration Deadline Approaches! The early registration deadline for the National Rural Summit on Traffic Safety Culture 2009 is rapidly approaching! To be held in Big Sky, Montana June 22, 2009, this event is a must attend. The Summit will increase your understanding and unify concern among participants about the role of traffic safety culture on behavior factors as well as attitudinal barriers to traffic safety interventions.
Why Attend? Traffic crashes represent the larges cause of fatal injury for nearly all age groups, especially in rural America and traffic safety culture is an important determinant of driver risk taking and acceptance of traffic safety interventions. Attempts to make our transportation system safer cannot succeed without considering the cultural factors that define our values and govern our behavior. In recognition of this, the Western Transportation Institute, AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, Federal Highway Administration and the Montana Department of Transportation are hosting a summit to discuss traffic safety culture and its role in the safety of our rural transportation system.
