British Society for the History of Science
In connection with its forthcoming annual conference at the University of Leicester (2-5 July), the British Society for the History of Science invites applications for grants from the BSHS Butler-Eyles Fund.
The Butler-Eyles Fund provides support for students attending conferences organised or sponsored by the British Society for the History of Science. It makes grants of up to £100 towards students' travel costs, where those costs would not be covered by another institution or funding body. It does not make grants towards accommodation costs, as subsidies for student accommodation are already built into the BSHS conference rates.
This year, for the first time, Butler-Eyles awards are also open to independent scholars (broadly defined as those engaged in the history of science or cognate fields but not employed in academic or other institutions), and we encourage applications from such scholars. Informal enquiries as to eligiblity should be directed to Jeff Hughes, [log in to unmask]
Applicants must be members of the Society, and preference will be given to those who are delivering papers at the conference. The deadline for applications to reach the BSHS Executive Secretary is 1 June.
