Research Professor (assistant, associate or full) of Mass Media Analysis

Job description: The assignment consists of restricted lecturing duties
confined to one course a year at Bachelor level (BA), and one course a year
at master level (MA) and supervision of MA dissertations. The main duty
consists of scientific research in the field of mass media analysis. Some
service to society and to the department is also required. During the first
period of (maximum) ten years, academic research will be the main activity.
The candidate is expected to further develop research in the domain of mass
media analysis and to acquire external funding (national and
interŽnational).
Profile and requirements: the candidate holds a doctoral degree in one of
the social sciences or humanities with a clear expertise in mass media
analysis ? the candidate has an international scientific CV, his/her
academic achievements are situated within the top 10% of the broader field
of communication studies ? the scientific and educational qualities of the
candidate comply with the requirements as stipulated by the university?s
policy ? the candidate has strong social and communicative skills, can work
in a team and is able to lead a research group
We offer: commensurate with the experience and the academic qualifications:
?Either a full-time position as a lecturer, entailing a temporary
appointment in the tenure track for a period of five years. This position
will lead to a permanent appointment if the performance is assessed
favourably.
?Or a full-time position as a senior lecturer or higher, generally
entailing a permanent appointment. In the case of a first appointment to
the corps of academic personnel (ZAP), the university board may proceed to
a temporary appointment for a period not exceeding three years. This
position will lead to a permanent appointment if the performance is
assessed favourably. The expected date of appointment is October 1, 2009.
