Similar to other regions, the West Midlands section of the UC&R Group is
offering to fund a local first time attendee at this year's Umbrella
Conference, The Power of People, Partnerships & Services, at the
University of Hertfordshire from July 14th to 15th 2009.
The bursary will cover the full residential delegate fee plus reasonable
travel expenses to and from Hatfield, not exceeding the cost of a
standard anytime return rail ticket*. In return for funding, the successful
applicant is expected to write a report on their conference experience to
appear in one of the UC&R Group’s publications.
As well as not having attended an Umbrella event before, applicants
should be current UC&R Group members residing, working or studying
within the West Midlands region**, with preference given to new
professionals (anyone joining the profession in the last three years) and
information/library science students.
The bursary has been advertised previously elsewhere but, with the
deadline for receiving applications of 5.30pm this Tuesday fast
approaching, cross-posting helps ensure those eligible for the award have
the chance to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity.
To apply, please send details of your name, CILIP membership number,
time in the information profession and current job title/course of study,
together with a short explanation (not exceeding 300 words) on how you
consider attending the Conference will benefit your professional and/or
career development, by email or post to:
