LEARNING AND TEACHING AWARDS 2009
There is still time to submit nominations for our annual economics learning
and teaching awards. The awards are open to UK-based academics that have
demonstrated excellent commitment, enthusiasm and effectiveness in their
teaching practices.
There are three categories:
· The Outstanding Teaching Award is given in recognition of exemplary
teaching practice that encourages understanding of and inspire interest in
economics.
· The Student nominated award is for UK-based academics
· The eLearning Award is given in recognition of innovative good practice in
the use of eLearning to enhance economics teaching and to provide a
stimulating and effective learning experience for economics students.
The deadline for nominations is Friday 12 June 2009. Each winner will
receive £250.

ECONOMICS NETWORK LECTURER SURVEY
Our 2009 Lecturer Survey is now open. The main objective is to clarify
current practice and issues of concern to Economics lecturers and students,
as well as provide the Economics Network and those who fund us with
information about how economics lecturers use our services and what impact
it has on their teaching.
We are also offering respondents an opportunity to enter a prize draw to win
either a free place at our forthcoming DEE Conference or an electronic
gadget of their choice. Further details about the survey and prizes are

CETL – MSOR CONFERENCE 2009: CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
On the 7th and 8th September 2009, the Maths, Stats & OR Network will be
running its fourth annual learning and teaching conference in conjunction
with the related Centres of Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETLs). The
2009 Conference will be hosted by the Centre for Open Learning of
Mathematics, Science, Computing and Technology (COLMSCT), and will take
place at the Open University in Milton Keynes.
