Yes, that calculation will give you legal values to enter for the
"will calculate as" column, but there's no reason you would be tied to
these values - they are completely your choice within the interval
that you specified for that grade. For example, you are giving the
grade value of "Merit" for any point value the student achieved that
is between 60% and 65% (always excluding the upper end of the
interval), so that means only those values are legal to enter for
"will calculate as" for the "Merit" grade, and 20% is not legal
because you specified on the left that this percentage corresponds to
a grade of "Fail".

The meaning of the "will calculate as" column is as follows:
Suppose the instructor has graded the items offline and now does
manual grade entry. He may enter *numeric* scores, in which case the
*textual* grade value is determined by looking at the *left* side of
the grading schema as you have it laid out on screen, or he may enter
*textual* grade values, in which case the *numeric* score is
determined by looking at the *right* side of the schema, from the
"will calculate as" column. The system always stores both a numeric
score and a textual grade value for each attempt (with the exception
of columns set to use the "Text" grading schema, which means there is
explicitly *no* numeric score underlying the grade).

Note that if you later alter the grading schema, any existing grades
using that grading schema are NOT re-calculated unless you re-submit
each grade. Thus this is not a recommended thing to do.
