These research professionals are not saying that dyslexia does not exist,
but that there needs to be a proper scientific research based defintion of
what Dyslexia is, what causes Dyslexia, and based underlying causes of
dyslexia we should then define how best to try to support and help those who
have the dyslexic symptoms.
There is no agreed defintion of what dyslexia is, 28 defintion wee included
in the 2004 Dyslexia research review including 3 from the BDA.
This all about defining dyslexia so that it is NOT seen being a middle class
issue, so it is not being seen as an excuse for poor teaching, and not the
vehicle for those selling books and remedial programs, and those selling a
diagnostic service for an undefined condition.
So this is about defining dyslexia in the best interests of all who have the
dyslexic problems or symptoms, so that all can have a good understanding of
what dyalexia is, and slso so that having a good understanding of the cuases
of dyalexia we are better able to provide the right types of suport and
