It shouldn’t be beyond the application to list all courses in the system we are not talking millions of courses.

Volker,
I would agree but as we allow courses to be created manually rather than by snapshot inevitably people make mistakes/ignore the syntax rules so what I am really wanting to do is find all the ones that do not conform to the correct pattern. Also all the inactive, unowned (read unused) courses prior to a V9 upgrade. Is there a better way to do this?

Note this is something you really don't want to do unless you are fond
of crashing your system or have only a small amount of courses. The
reason this was made more difficult is that it puts very heavy load on
the system, leading to Java heap consumption when very many items are
listed.
