PhD Studentships
MRC Centre of Epidemiology for Child Health

The MRC Centre of Epidemiology for Child Health wishes to appoint to two new
PhD studentships, funded by the Medical Research Council.
The following projects are available:
- Sequential pregnancies in HIV-infected women in Europe - Principal
Investigator, Dr Pat Tookey
- Vitamin D and mental health: insights from observational and genetic
epidemiology - Principal Investigator, Dr Elina Hyppönen
- Adverse paediatric outcomes of antibiotic treatment in pregnancy -
Principal Investigator, Professor Ruth Gilbert
- Modelling multivariate centiles - Principal Investigator: Dr Angie Wade
- Growth, timing of maturation, and cardiovascular disease risks in adult
life - Principal Investigator, Dr Leah Li
Students will register during the 2009/10 academic year for a three year
full-time MPhil/PhD degree, with an expected commencement date of 1st
October 2009. Funding includes UK/EU tuition fees and a tax free stipend of
£18,695 per annum.
Applicants should have, or expect to receive, first class honours or an
upper second class degree. An MSc in a discipline relevant to their
preferred project is desirable.
