Hello,
The Sustainable Leisure Travel Network is holding its first workshop on 7th May
on the subject of whether low carbon tourism can be economically viable, with
reference to tourist travel within destination areas.
Speakers include Rebecca Willis, author of Low Carbon Lake District and Vice
Chair of the UK Sustainable Development Comission and Judith Moore and
Alistair Kirkbride, Policy Officers of Friends of the Lake District.
The workshop is being held in Staveley, on the edge of the Lake District and
costs £86.25 per person with a concessionary rate for students, private
individuals and small companies of £46.00 per person. The fee includes lunch,
refreshments and a tour of the village ending at the Hawkshead Brewery.
Staveley can be reached by train with connections to the West Coast Line
services at Oxenholme.
We hope there will be lively discussions about the role, efficiency and
effectiveness of alternatives to the private car for leisure and how they should
be funded.
If you would like to attend or have any queries about the workshop, please
contact me Jo Guiver ([log in to unmask] or telephone 01772 894923).
Thank you,
Jo
