Subject: Invitation to attend a discussion on the future of archives in Scotland - Saturday 16 May 2009
As Secretary of the Society of Archivists Scotland I am writing to formally invite members of SUSCAG to attend the Society of Archivist's Scotland Pre-AGM Discussion Day which will be held at the National Library of Scotland, George IV Bridge, Edinburgh on Saturday 16 May 2009. The proposed programme for the day is attached.
The morning session will be dedicated to meeting the newly appointed Scottish Council on Archives (SCA) Director and Events Officer. After lunch, a panel, featuring representatives of SoA, ACALG and NCA will introduce the proposed Sector Review and what it will mean for archives and archivists in Scotland. There will be an opportunity to discuss the issues posed for Scottish archives in small groups and feedback/question and answer sessions. This meeting is of vital importance to archivists and users of archives in Scotland who are keen to understand and question how the proposed merger will work.
SUSCAG members would of course be welcome to attend the SoAS AGM afterwards - although they would not be able to vote unless also members of the Society of Archivists, Scotland.
I do hope that you will be able to attend and would ask that you let me know as soon as possible.
Best wishes,
Alison
