Lots of differences. In fact everything is different, except for the fact
that both estimate the six parameters that describe translations and
rotations.

This can't be changed. It uses a kind of trilinear interpolation, with some
pseudo-random-ish jittering to ensure a better behaved objective function.

The reslicing uses pretty much the same code for both procedures.
