Dear all,
Thank you to all those who came to PSA and contributed to the Women and
Politics panels, cake reception and AGM. The minutes from the AGM are
attached to this email. I would particularly like to draw your attention to the
following items:
1. It seems that not everyone is aware of our website. It is available here:
http://psawomenpolitics.wordpress.com. Feedback welcome.
2. For anyone interested in submitting a paper or panel proposal to this year's
EPOP conference, please remember that the EPOP deadline is 8 May, so I
would be grateful if you could get proposals to me beforehand so that I can
co-ordinate panels.
3. Anyone interested in submitting an undergraduate essay to our annual
prize competition should do so by 30 June and should send the essay to Fiona
Mackay (who kindly agreed to judge the contest) at the University of
Edinburgh; [log in to unmask]
4. Our own conference will take place next year at the University of
Manchester on Friday 19 February 2010. Many thanks to Angelia Wilson for
organising the conference. I will circulate more details shortly in a separate
email.
5. We are initiating the Joni Lovenduski prize for the best paper presented at
PSA - named after someone who has contributed so much to the group and to
the profession. If anyone is interested in judging this year's award, please
contact Rainbow asap - [log in to unmask] (judges should not have
contributed to a paper presented at this year's conference). We ask the
chairs of this year's women and politics panels to nominate the best paper
from their panel for the award. If you presented a relevant paper on a
different panel, you are invited to self-nominate. The deadline for nominations
will be 15 May.
Best wishes,
Rainbow
