I agree its only when things become too late that we are sorry and
regretful. I think what this nurse was brave in that she felt the
duty of care to the patients she was responsible for overrode her
code of conduct and she understood she jeopardised her position as a
result. She had the foresight for this and felt deeply concerned
enough about the care of our elderly that protected this country
during war and raised us that she acted out of her conscience to
them. Not easy and I feel the NMC cannot look at this in black and
white when there are clearly shades of gray.
She did not abuse her position for herself but for the sake of others
so that they would no longer be in this position. How many trusts
respond to concerns when raised - i left the NHS years ago as i felt
my care was compromised within my speciality and thats not why we
enter our chosen career.
I have signed the petition and I hope it all works out for her
