Dear colleagues,
I feel sure this has been discussed before but hope you don't mind me asking
again.
As part of our review of the mobile library service in Devon, we are keen to
incorporate more online provision in future, both for the public and for the
staff. We currently have most of our 11 mobiles 'online' in the sense of having
fallback access to the library management system (Galaxy) but there is no live
access to the catalogue, internet, etc.
I'm conscious that satellite and mobile phone technology is advancing all the
time and wonder whether any authorities serving rural areas, who have
cracked the use of ICT on mobile libraries, would be willing to share their
experiences? We have a keen colleague within the ICT team corporately who
would be keen to talk technical detail with anyone with useful experience to
share.
Many thanks in anticipation of your help.
