Supporting International Students in Further and Higher Education
UC&R(Scottish section) and CoFHE(Scotland) joint event
Glasgow Metropolitan College
30 April 2009
Scotland’s universities and colleges welcome students from around the world
and at present we have students from over 116 different countries. They not
only bring a diversity of cultures to our institutions but also a variety of
needs, experience and expectations.
This event aims to provide library and information staff with background and
ideas for supporting international students. It will look at cultural diversity,
current good practice and the expectations and needs of this group from the
perspective of current international students. At the end of the event
attendees will have an understanding of the range of cultural backgrounds
students are drawn from and suggestions of how to meet their needs and
ease their transition to studying in Scotland.
