Our finance department agree with Paul, and we don't charge VAT. Re
non-commercial enquiries, at present we don't make a charge no matter
how long the search takes or how much information is provided.
Many thanks for all these replies, helpful and illuminating. I had
thought we were cheap, but obviously not!

Apologies for my ignorance but perhaps someone could explain. I was
under the impression that if you are the sole provider of information
(e.g. HER) then you couldn't charge VAT. It seems I am wrong as some
LA's seem to be doing this, but I was wondering if anyone else has come
across this?
