Dear listmembers,
For a Dutch research project about social integration of people with mental illness and/or intellectual disabilities I am looking for good practices that not only aim to contribute to enrich the social life of people with mental illness and/or disabilities but also succeed in doing so (more and qualitative better social contacts or initiatives that make people feel that they are part of the local community and belong). In the Netherlands the social integration/participation of people with mental and/or disabilities is considered difficult and not that successful for a number of reasons. So far, I have been able to identify some practices that seem promising (think of sports, arts, work projects in which people with(out) impairments participate together) and selected some to do some further research (interviews and (participant) observations).
It is not an international project but still I am interested whether there are examples of ‘good’ practices in other countries. So, if there are in your opinion good practices that are worth mentioning please let me know.
