Marks & Spencer is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year and as part of
the celebrations we are staging an exhibition, named ‘Marks In Time’, in
partnership with the University of Leeds.
We are looking to recruit an Exhibition Officer. This is a 6 month post based in
the Parkinson Building, University of Leeds. Salary range £18,000 to £24,000
dependent on experience.

Reporting to the Company Archivist, the Exhibition Officer will assist with the
installation and opening of the ‘Marks In Time’ exhibition alongside the small
archive team. Following the opening, as the Exhibition Officer, your role is to
oversee the exhibition on-site at the University of Leeds.
You will be the first point of contact for our visitors and will welcome people
to the exhibition ensuring they make the most of their visit. You will conduct
group tours around the exhibition, providing knowledgeable, informative and
engaging presentations. You will ensure the safety and security of visitors
and the exhibits and will also assist with regular cleaning of the displays.
You will have an MA in Museum Studies or equivalent plus experience of
working in an exhibition environment. You will have the ability to communicate
confidently with a diverse range of stakeholders including the general public,
students and academics from the University and M&S customers, shareholders
and employees.
A basic knowledge of cash handling procedures and an understanding of the
importance and relevance of business archives would also be an advantage.
Upon appointment you will receive an induction and brief training with the
archive team based in London for a short period.
