Dear Allstat,
A PSI TRAINING COURSE ON NON PARAMETRIC STATISTICS BY GUNTER HEIMANN: 7TH - 9TH JULY 2009.
This is a reminder that registration is still open for the PSI training course - "Non Parametric Statistics" which is taking place from 7th - 9th July at the Mercure Europe hotel in Basel, Switzerland presented by Günter Heimann (Novartis, Basel).
To benefit from the early bird discount please register by 1st June 2009.
This three day course provides an introduction to nonparametric statistical methods, including a range of nonparametric tests, corresponding sample size methodology, and nonparametric estimation methods. Exact versus asymptotic distributions will be discussed as well. The focus will be on explaining the underlying statistical concepts in depth, rather than covering a wide range of methods. Reference to SAS output will be made where appropriate, but a computer is not needed.
The following key topics will be included:
Day 1
Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney U-test
Exact and asymptotic distribution of the
Wilcoxon test
Sample size estimation
Comparison to the t-test
Day 2
Other two sample rank tests (Savage, Mood'
Linear regression (Theil's test) and Trend tests
(Jonckheere's test)
Nonparametric testing in crossover trials
Empirical distribution function and Kolmogoroff
Smirnoff test
Day 3
Linear Models (Kruskall Wallis test, van Elteren
test)
Different approaches to ranking in
multifactorial designs
Estimation and confidence intervals
Hodges Lehmann Estimator
Theil's estimator for slope
The participants will be asked to do practical and theoretical exercises as well.
