Are these the controls outside the lift, or in the car itself?

My suggestion would be that it needs to be the same location for consistency reasons for ease of location for people with vision impairments. Of course some lift cars have controls on both sides.

Hi everybody

Is there any accessibility reason for the recommendation in BS EN81-70:2003
(section 5.4.2.3 a) that lift control panels should be located on the right
hand side for lifts with centre opening doors?

We are dealing with an existing lift which has the control panel on the
left hand side, and the costs of relocating the panel from left to right
are significant. Is there any accessibility benefit available by moving the
panel from left to right at significant cost?
