Postdoctoral Fellowships at Macquarie University
The Astronomy & Astrophysics group at Macquarie University is seeking
expressions of interest from highly-qualified early career astronomers
to apply to the MQ Research Fellowship scheme, in order to join our
rapidly-expanding active research team in 2010. Applicants must have had
their PhD awarded on or since March 1st 2004, or must submit their
thesis by 8th July 2009 to be eligible.
The programme provides a 3-year postdoctoral fellowship with excellent
salary and a total of $50k in research funding. The scheme is highly
competitive with 6 positions available across the university. However,
well qualified candidates with an astronomy background and a good track
record are strongly encouraged to apply.
This scheme closes for expressions of interest on April 29th 2009 via
http://www.mq.edu.au/jobs/
The initial expression of interest consists of only a 1-page project
description and a list of publications, grants, awards etc.
Applicants successful in the first round would then have to submit a
full application in the second round. More details are available at
http://www.research.mq.edu.au/researchers/funding/internal/mqrf
Areas of current research at Macquarie include planetary nebulae,
massive black holes, star and planet
formation, binary stars, galactic archaeology, dwarf galaxies,
astronomical instrumentation/photonics and Wide Field Astronomy. Strong
links are also maintained with the AAO and ATNF.
Potential candidates in any area of astronomy and astrophysics are
encouraged to contact one of our research faculty in the first instance
(De Marco, Lawrence, Parker, Wardle or Zucker).
