this might mainly apply to us northerners, but I am assuming a number of you may have received an email from OAN about GIS capabilities and data exchange?
For those who haven't, their IT person has emailed a number of HER's to look into options for data delivery of HER data but also methods for delivery back to HER's in ways which help identify updated/new records for re-integration with the HER.
Before I replied I thought I would suggest something for the list to ponder.
I can reply and give various answers, but the questions OAN are asking are similar to ones that have been mooted at HBSMR and (I think) HER Forum meetings, about data formats (and I am assuming not just GIS data here).
It seems what they are looking into could link into various existing proposals/projects such as ASPIRE and OASIS - in particular the discussions re OASIS which were held at the last HBSMR (?) meeting about exactly this sort of thing - but also the new IFA data Management Section may be interested too?
It would seem that here is a contractor who may be a useful Pilot to work some of these issues through with and wonder if there is anyone involved with those projects/organisation who I could put forward as a contact to OAN to look into this?
I'll even volunteer myself to be involved in a pilot (what the hell, none of my line managers are in today....)
I can almost here everyone involved sitting on their hands as I type this, so they don't volunteer for more work, but the alternative is for the 30 odd people contacted to all give slightly different requirements and drive the poor lass at OAN slowly daft.
This could be a good opportunity to look at some of these issues so I am hoping there is someone on here able to reply?
