Hi,
I think that Steve's comment on Northumbria University relates to the work of
the Northumbria's Continued communication research project. There is
currently a group of 80 co-researchers from around the world represented
from across a range of professions undertaking research into how businesses
can maximise the information potential of their communications, taking into
account the impact of the individual. The groups are evaluating records
management and other business models within this context and undertaking
actions within a research framework to meet the overarching aim. The project
is obviously considering the considerable impact of Web 2.0 technologies.
There are currently three groups (one specifically consisting of RM
practitioners), within the project, all of which will ultimately merge.
One action from within the UK Records Management group has been to create
a checklist, akin to a business specification, to assist with organisations
comparing the services of different Web 2.0 sites/services, thereby
outsourcing aspects of their communications/collaborative processes. In
addition the user requirements checklist, risk assessment, and communication
policy are currently in development by this part of the group.
Sarah Demb of the London Museums Hub is going to talk about the project's
RM outputs at the RMS conference. The new guidance on Specifying
requirements for offsite storage services is a great link that we will check
against what we have already produced. We hope to share our outputs more
widely through the RMS Conference.
Hope that this helps.
