Using stem cells to treat patients is one of the most hotly debated topics in the media at the moment. Are these treatments safe? Are they available in Britain? What do scientists and patients think of them? Will the NHS be able to afford them?
The East of England Stem Cell Network is inviting members of the public to take part in an event in Cambridge on the evening of 10 March at which these issues will be discussed in a highly informative and entertaining format.
As part of the audience, you will hear from an expert panel including Dolly the Sheep “inventor” Professor Sir Ian Wilmut and Dr Richard Burt, a specialist in using stem cells to treat patients with multiple sclerosis. You will have the chance to pitch your questions to the panel, as well as expressing your views on key issues using an electronic voting system.
The event will be chaired by Quentin Cooper, Radio presenter and film critic for the BBC’s Breakfast programme, and according to The Times, “the world’s most enthusiastic man".
Arrival and refreshments from 19.15, with the main event lasting from 20.00 - 21.00.
The event will be held at:
