AHRC Funded Post-Doctoral Research Assistant (36.5 hours)

The Department invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research
Assistant to work alongside Dr Heike Roms on a two-year research
project funded by an Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC)
Research Grant. The project, entitled "‘It was forty years ago
today...': Locating the Early History of Performance Art in Wales
1965-1979", will examine how performance art histories are
constructed, paying particular attention to the development of the art
form in the context of Wales.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant field (theatre
or performance studies, art history, history, Welsh or a related
discipline). S/he will be highly motivated and a clear communicator
with excellent analytical, organisational and IT skills. A knowledge
of or an interest in performance art, contemporary Welsh art or modern
Welsh history would be advantageous as would be a working knowledge of
the Welsh language. Experience in qualitative research or oral history
methodology would be an asset.
The post is available for 21 months from 1 July 2009 to 31 March 2011.

Mae'r Adran yn gwahodd ceisiadau am swydd Cynorthwyydd Ymchwil
Ôl-ddoethurol a fydd yn gweithio gyda Dr Heike Roms ar brosiect
ymchwil dwy flynedd a gyllidir gan Grant Ymchwil y Cyngor Ymchwil i'r
Celfyddydau a'r Dyniaethau (AHRC). Bydd y prosiect sy'n dwyn y teitl
"‘It was forty years ago today...': Locating the Early History of
Performance Art in Wales 1965-1979", yn edrych ar sut mae hanesion
celfyddyd perfformio yn cael eu llunio, gan roi sylw penodol i
ddatblygiad y ffurf hon ar gelfyddyd yng nghyd-destun Cymru.
Bydd gan yr ymgeisydd llwyddiannus PhD mewn maes perthnasol
(astudiaethau theatr neu berfformio, hanes celf, hanes, Cymraeg neu
ddisgyblaeth berthnasol). Bydd ef/hi yn llawn brwdfrydedd ac yn
gyfathrebwr clir gyda sgiliau ardderchog o ran dadansoddi, trefnu, a
TG. Byddai gwybodaeth neu ddiddordeb mewn celfyddyd perfformio,
celfyddyd Gymreig gyfoes neu hanes modern Cymru yn fanteisiol yn
ogystal â'r gallu i ddefnyddio'r Gymraeg. Byddai profiad o waith
ymchwil ansoddol neu fethodoleg hanes llafar o fantais.
