Surely it's the obsession with that very worn out idea that issues are the
be all and end all that has driven so many senior people in the profession
to obsess over statistics like mathematicians on heat. League tables for
instance?
In a profession that's supposed to be about people, numbers give a terribly
weak picture of service quality. Like Britney Spears, it's great if you're
in the top 10 though.
