We haven't gone live with our 3M fines payment kiosks yet (still waiting for
the auditor to give a go-ahead) but I'm wondering how other libraries are
managing the following two options.
* Payment required for fines equal or greater than:
* Refer patron to desk for fines equal or greater than:
The second will be set at the "Max Owed" patron block value (£10 in our
case) because the Millennium software prevents a user from paying any fines
via the kiosk if they are blocked. But what amount have others set for the
first question? It should be lower than £10 but we don't want to set it too
low to deter users from checking items out. What amount works in your library?
Do you also think, as I do, that the library should be able to set the
amount above which the user is referred to library staff?
