I don't know if anyone else has had much feedback from their users regarding
the delays in receiving downloads, but I recently chased EThOS on behalf of
one of our researchers who has been waiting since January for a thesis.
Their response was that due to the massive demand there have been
significant delays (about two months from when they receive the thesis from
the university) and they did not have the resources to fully cope with the
initial interest.
They say they are taking steps to resolve the situation - extra staff, double
shifts, etc, but in the meantime, whilst this unacceptable delay remains during
this initial period, what about re-instating the hybrid service and lend the
microfilms if available?
Having said all that, when the system works, it does work well, and we have
had quite a bit of positive feedback from our users.
