SCIENCE AND HERITAGE PROGRAMME CALL FOR INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH GRANTS

Full details of both the call for outline proposals for Interdisciplinary Research Grants and the AHRC/EPSRC Science and Heritage Programme Specification are now available for download on the Science and Heritage Programme website at the following link:

http://www.heritagescience.ac.uk/index.php?section=16

Funding for between five and eight Interdisciplinary Research Grant proposals (depending on value and quality) is now available from the AHRC/EPSRC Science and Heritage Programme to support creative, cross-disciplinary research activities.

Each project will have a maximum full economic cost of 800,000, and a duration of 1 to 3 years. Proposals for 3 year grants may propose a maximum of three studentships in association with the project.

Proposals will need to be submitted by an eligible Research Organisation, but must involve collaboration with at least one other organisation. Priority will be given to proposals which involve a wide range of organisations, including higher education institutions, heritage organisations, museums, galleries, libraries and archives, practitioner communities, commerce and industry either within or outside the UK. Priority will also be given to outline proposals which involve people and disciplines from the remits of both AHRC and EPSRC, offering a diversity of expertise and experience.

The Interdisciplinary Research Grants competition will be conducted in 2 stages:

1. An outline phase - closing date Thursday 14th May 2009
2. A request for full proposals from the short-listed candidates - closing date Thursday 17th September 2009

The earliest start date for projects will be 1st April 2010.
