Conservator

Record Office, Malpas Road, Northallerton,
Band 10 (£23,473 - £26,016 per annum) April 2009 pay award pending
Full Time (37 hours per week).
North Yorkshire County Record Office provides a three-star and
improving local authority archive service, as well as a records
management service to the County Council. We are looking for a versatile
archive conservator, able to undertake the full range of professional
duties including remedial and preventative work, management of document
handling and storage environments, and the mounting of exhibitions and
displays. As a key member of the Record Office team, you will also be
responsible for education/outreach work in relation to conservation,
maintenance of the Record Office’s Disaster Plan, and supervision of
trainee staff and volunteers as required. You will hold a recognised
qualification in archive conservation or equivalent, and have good ICT,
communication and interpersonal skills. You must be committed and
flexible, with an entrepreneurial approach. North Yorkshire is
England’s largest county, so a driving licence and access to a
vehicle is desirable, any travel for work purposes will be reimbursed.
