Physical Activity and Health
(Supervisors: Michaela Benzeval and Professor Nanette Mutrie)
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a good honours degree or master's degree in a social science discipline (e.g. psychology, economics, geography, sociology), sport and exercise sciences, epidemiology or statistics, and with a sound statistical understanding, to train in a leading research establishment. The studentship will fund a relevant Masters degree if you do not already have one and then be based on quantitative analysis of longitudinal data from the West of Scotland Twenty-07 Study. It carries an annual stipend of £12,940. Further statistical training can be provided.
The MRC Social and Public Health Sciences Unit provides excellent support for students, is well resourced and has an impressive track record in studying the impact of social factors on health behaviours and illness.
