Jay, I've always assumed Gosset was motivated by QC needs. Brewing is
a batch process from which you can take a small number of samples each
time and want to show that the SG or other parameters are within
acceptable variability. Obviously he didn't use company data in
publications because of commercial confidentiality.

Regarding the US patent, our IP advisor told me it can't be enforced
outside the US.
