Dear ALL,
I am using for my Bachelor thesis (in Peru we do thesis in pregrade also) the rarefaction by Heck (1975) with species Diversity & Richness sofware. The results give me a Standard error, so i can easily get the standard deviation and variance, but i need confidence intervals at 95% for that richness values. With 1118 individuals i have for my data of two seasons (dry and wet) 13.88 and 15, but i want to know if these numbers of species really differs or not. I know that for the classical formula for confidence intervals (95%) Xavg ± 1.96 ( Xavg , for example 13.88 for dry season). Unfortunately the formula have power with "normally distributed" data, so i just want to know how i can determine that with just the formula of Heck on my hand? I attached the formulas here! (pdf.).
I will be enourmously grateful if someone can help me with this problem. Here in Peru, i tried to find help at the university but with no luck.
Thanks to everyone!
Best wishes
Sergio Nolazco
