Statistician - Career Development Fellow
£25,622 to £27,223 per annum
The MRC Biostatistics Unit, Cambridge aims to advance medical science by the
development, application and dissemination of statistical methods. It is
one of Europe's leading biostatistics research institutions and includes
many internationally renowned statisticians. It provides a privileged
environment for conducting research, with negligible administration, no
requirement to teach, and access to important applications of high public
interest.
We seek a statistician to work within the programme Methods and applications
in the Management of Heart & Lung Diseases, led by Linda Sharples. He or she
will contribute to development of statistical methods for meta-analysis of
Randomised Clinical Trials, evidence synthesis and health technology
appraisal, particularly in the presence of competing risks. Based at the MRC
Biostatistics Unit in the Institute of Public Health, the post-holder will
join a small team of methodological and applied statisticians. The post
holder will be able to pursue individual research interests relevant to the
themes of the programme.
We welcome applications from both recent post-docs and candidates wishing to
develop a career in Medical Statistics. We offer a three year Career
Development Fellowship, which will be a training and developmental post.
You should have a Postgraduate qualification in statistics (normally a PhD),
or equivalent experience in medical statistics or a related discipline with
a large mathematical component, good statistical computing skills, knowledge
of Statistical software, good communication skills and the ability to work
independently. A strong interest in application of statistical methods in
health research is essential. Experience in Medical Statistics and
knowledge of Bayesian Methodology is desirable.
