Postdoctoral Associate Position in fMRI/TMS studies of facial expression processing
School of Psychology & Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre, Cardiff, UK
Applications are invited for a two-year postdoctoral position, available immediately, in the lab of Professor Andrew Lawrence (http://www.cf.ac.uk/psych/contactsandpeople/lecturing/lawrence-andrew-prof-overview_new.html), part of the Wales Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, Cardiff University, UK. The research forms part of a collaboration with other labs in the Wales Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience - the TMS lab of Dr Chris Chambers, and the lab of Dr Paul Downing (University of Bangor). The projects use fMRI and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), together with multi-voxel pattern analysis to investigate the relations between facial expression processing and selective attention in the human brain.
You will be expected to set-up, execute, analyse and disseminate through oral presentation and scholarly publication fMRI and/or transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) experiments in healthy volunteers. This work is to be undertaken within the context of the Wales Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience (WICN) as part of the research programme of Prof. Andrew Lawrence. You will be an active participant of WICN and will engage in activities related to this institute as necessary.
The School of Psychology is one of the largest and most successful schools of its type in the UK, and is home to the Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Centre, one of the first facilities in the UK with research dedicated fMRI (3T), MEG and TMS facilities.
Minimum requirements for the position include 1) a PhD in cognitive or computational neuroscience, psychology, or a related field; 2) facility with fMRI and/or TMS; 3) facility with imaging analysis methods (e.g. MVPA)
