Dear Stefanie,
The meg_pd reader is known to be problematic on some systems and
Matlab versions. We recently developed a new reader based on MNE
Matlab toolbox. This reader will be included in the next public update
of SPM8b along with better support for Neuromag data and some other
new features. If you are eager to start, we can correspond off the
list and I'll provide you with the code and some instructions.
Best,
Vladimir
