Get inside the cloud of information – Private data in public spaces, 31st March
2009, 9.30am – 4.30pm
Our first one day event of 2009 will explore the emerging opportunities and
challenges of Cloud Computing. With over 50% of document and presentation
work expected to move to the cloud in the next five years, our industry
experts will be discussing the potential benefits, implications and risks for
Information and Knowledge professionals.
At its simplest, Cloud Computing delivers to the end user the ability to access
a private collaborative space rich in ‘office tools’, document libraries,
messaging and custom search. The fact that this environment is available for
a matter of a few pounds, and in a few minutes, presents both a terrific
opportunity and a seismic threat.
TFPL has assembled a cast of experts from across the private and public
sectors who will share with you their experiences and perspectives. The
agenda will include a number of case studies and stimulating presentations.
Our speakers include:
John Sheridan, Head of E-Services, The National Archives; Roger James, ICT
Director, University of Westminster; Andy Beale, Director of Architecture &
Services, Guardian News & Media Ltd; Ibrahim Hasan, Information Lawyer,
Consultant IBA Solicitors & Director of Act Now Training; Paul Driscoll, IT
Director, Erith Group; Lynn Collier, Director of Archive Solution Sales EMEA,
Hitachi Data Systems Ltd; Jeremy Bentley, CEO, Smartlogic.
