Lab in a Lorry Operations Coordinator (North West) (3-month contract)
Salary: £22,000 pro rata for 3 months, plus benefits
Lab in a Lorry is an interactive mobile physics laboratory which provides
young people with the opportunity to do experimental physics with
experienced scientists providing guidance. Lab in a Lorry (North West) is a
partnership between the Institute of Physics, the Society of Petroleum
Engineers and the 1851 Commission. The Schlumberger Foundation is a founding
partner.
We need an enthusiastic and motivated physical sciences graduate to join the
team and take responsibility for the smooth running of the lorry within the
north west of England, including tour planning, day-to-day operation of the
lorry, briefing of volunteers and liaising with stakeholders. The post
holder will work closely with other members of the Lab in a Lorry team.
Applicants should have proven ability of working on complex projects with a
variety of stakeholders, as well as a proven ability to work under their own
initiative. They should have proven ability of communicating science to
young people and excellent team working skills, as well as an ability to
plan and prioritise their work and meet deadlines.
The role requires an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure.
This is a fixed term contract which runs between 20 April and 24 July 2009.
Secondments are welcome.
