Dear Colleagues,
As some of you already know, I’m doing some work on the Sciencewise Expert
Resource Centre, looking at how we can engage the media in public dialogue
activities and the role of science communicators in the process.
I’m really keen to get much wider input into our thinking and so I’d like to ask
for your views on a number of questions and issues that have arisen, including:
• Will journalists ever be interested in public dialogue activities?
• Do new media outlets offer us more interesting opportunities to reach
diverse audiences?
• Do we need to be clearer about who we are targeting with these activities?
• What’s the role for science communicators in dialogue?
In order the spare the in-boxes of those who aren’t interested, and to make it
much easier for me to collate the responses (rather than make any comment
on the usefulness of this list!), I’ve posted some thoughts, issues and
questions that we’re keen to think about onto our blog (http://think-
labuk.blogspot.com/).
I’d be really grateful if anyone who is interested/has a view/ has anything to
say on the matter would visit and leave comments – they will help shape our
thinking for the final report and recommendations that will be sent to DIUS and
the science communication/dialogue community.
Hope it's of interest
Best wishes
Melanie
